TRAVEL

Many study-abroad students imagine spending a weekend in Paris, a few days cycling in Holland, or maybe a quick art tour in Rome.  One must keep in mind, however, that Seville is in the southern part of Spain, and the rest of Europe is not just a couple of hours away.  It takes approximately 12 hours to get to Barcelona by train, which is generally the departure point from Spain to the rest of Europe.  Trips to Paris, London, Berlin, and Rome, for example, are about two days of travel. Students generally save these longer trips for vacations. There are  many  beautiful  and interesting locations close to Seville, however, which are more accessible for weekend getaways, such as Málaga and the  famous  Costa del Sol (3 hours), Madrid (2 ˝ hours), Gibraltar (2 hours) to name a few of the many possibilities. Portugal is also fairly close to Seville: Lisbon is about 6 hours away and the Algarve, with its beautiful beaches in Lagos or Faro, is less than 3 hours.

In the ICS Student Affairs office students can consult with the Travel Information binder which lists departure and arrival times for trains and buses from Seville to many destinations.

STUDENT TRAVEL FORM

All ICS students who travel outside of Seville for any period of time are required to complete the ICS Student Travel Form.  On this Form students must provide precise information on their travel itinerary, phone number and address of their hotel or place of stay, and an estimated time of arrival for their return.  For further information of this ICS requirement, see section on Security Issues.
